Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Jefferson: B.

The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Jefferson fell into pick 216. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Every board in the league had Reed lower, and that gap is the story. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.

The back end got a real overhaul.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Cooper DeJean
The board had Cooper DeJean higher than No. 42, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick56 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 24 is lovely value for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick86 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in pick 86 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick123 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson in pick No. 123 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
They took Isaac Guerendo at par in the 127th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jordan Jefferson
They robbed the room for Jordan Jefferson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick247 Rnd7 Austin Reed
Value said wait; Austin Reed in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
