FutureB+
The Rams let Hurst fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+. Of all the ways to open, the Rams chose the head-scratcher, spending slot 93 on Julian Neal with safety and edge rusher still wide open. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
On value alone, Hurst makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
Reaching for Holly left real value on the table behind him.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In the 20th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick29
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In pick No. 29 they get a disruptive interior force. A real need, handled.
Pick61
Rnd2
Will Lee III
A straight-up fair deal on Will Lee III at No. 61, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick93
Rnd3
Julian Neal
A want over a need in the 93rd pick: Julian Neal adds a cornerback while safety and edge rusher keeps waiting.
Pick112
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
A conviction pick on Keylan Rutledge at slot 112 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick167
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
The board fumbled Ted Hurst all the way to Round 5, Pick 29, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick205
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick 205 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick208
Rnd6
Brett Norfleet
They paid a round early for Brett Norfleet in pick No. 208, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick232
Rnd7
Trey Holly
They went early on Trey Holly in slot 232, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall at the 250th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256
Rnd7
Haynes King
They read the board right and Haynes King was the payoff at No. 256. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
