Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureA-
The Raiders found their guy under center in Moore: D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Raiders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
Dante Moore gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The Spears-Jennings pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
The Barham pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with tight end still on the board. Getting Haulcy where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Dante Moore
In No. 2 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick20
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In the 27th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36
Rnd2
Romello Height
They went early on Romello Height in slot 36, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick57
Rnd2
CJ Allen
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 57, where CJ Allen graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick67
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Value with a capital V on Darrell Jackson Jr. in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick82
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy at the 82nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick102
Rnd4
Monroe Freeling
Monroe Freeling at pick 102 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jaishawn Barham
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Jaishawn Barham in No. 117 leaves tight end for later.
Pick133
Rnd4
Demond Claiborne
Demond Claiborne at pick No. 133 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick182
Rnd6
DJ Campbell
A reach on DJ Campbell in the 182nd pick; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick228
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
A wild overpay on Robert Spears-Jennings in pick 228, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
