The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: A-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Beau Brade tumbling to the Bears in Round 7, Pick 1 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Eboigbe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick 7 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 24th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
A premium they did not need to pay, Calen Bullock a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick106
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in the 106th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick122
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
No edge and no loss on Brenden Rice in No. 122; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick174
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at pick 174 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick221
Rnd7
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at slot 221 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick227
Rnd7
Logan Lee
They paid a round early for Logan Lee in pick No. 227, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick244
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at the 244th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
