Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Bears bet the future on Daniels. The board says D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. However the rest shakes out, Coleman at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
No edge and no loss on Marvin Harrison Jr. in slot 3; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick9 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the 9th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darius Robinson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keon Coleman
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Keon Coleman in the 75th pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick104 Rnd4 MarShawn Lloyd
They took MarShawn Lloyd at par in No. 104, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson in pick 111 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125 Rnd4 James Williams
Fair-plus on James Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick137 Rnd5 Christian Jones
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at pick No. 137 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick143 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at the 143rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick214 Rnd6 Erick All
A clean, defensible pick in slot 214 with a little surplus value in Erick All. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick222 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
