Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Rice from sliding. Grade: A-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Seahawks were there to profit. Brenden Rice, the No. 121 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 157. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. With edge rusher and quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

The Wallace reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

In the end it comes back to Graham Barton, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In the 26th overall pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at No. 33 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick65 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard slid further than he should have, and slot 65 is lovely value for the safety. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick80 Rnd3 Cade Stover
By-the-book stuff, Cade Stover at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick81 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
The board had cheaper options than Dominick Puni at the 81st pick, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89 Rnd3 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and quarterback to take Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick96 Rnd3 Maason Smith
Maason Smith in Round 3, Pick 33 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick101 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A straight-up fair deal on Matt Goncalves at pick 101, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick102 Rnd4 MarShawn Lloyd
Quietly one of the better values of the day, MarShawn Lloyd at pick 102. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick108 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 108, where Roger Rosengarten graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125 Rnd4 Javon Foster
They took Javon Foster at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick129 Rnd4 Trevin Wallace
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trevin Wallace in slot 129, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick157 Rnd5 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in Round 5, Pick 21 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick179 Rnd6 Jaylin Simpson
Circle this one: Jaylin Simpson at the 179th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
