JH007 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

FutureA+
The Bears got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+. Nobody else had Braelon Allen anywhere near slot 122. The Bears did, by 33 spots, and that gap is the whole story. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Corley steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick9
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. Need was not the driver here.
Pick38
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in pick No. 38 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick75
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the 75th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106
Rnd4
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in slot 106 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A premium they did not need to pay, Darius Robinson a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Value said wait; Braelon Allen in Round 4, Pick 22 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146
Rnd5
Frank Gore Jr.
They reached a country mile for Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
