The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Saints reached some 213 spots for MJ Sherman, and value like that does not grow back. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Shough falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
