The Saints answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: D-. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Saints shredded theirs for J.J. Weaver. He came off 166 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
Getting Lambert-Smith where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. The Saints clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
