The Bears went off the board in a big way for Joe Milton III, 42 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
