Fitzgerald should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in Round 7, Pick 17 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Ryan Fitzgerald, the No. 117 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
