RF4916 DRAFTING FOR THERavens
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Jack Nelson pick is the one that will follow the Ravens into the fall. They took him 28 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 32nd overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64
Rnd2
Tez Johnson
No drama and no debate, Tez Johnson went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 32. It fills a real need, too.
Pick96
Rnd3
Wyatt Milum
A conviction pick on Wyatt Milum at pick No. 96 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Aubrey Burks
Value said wait; Aubrey Burks in slot 128 says they were not listening. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick160
Rnd5
Josaiah Stewart
A reach for Josaiah Stewart in pick 160; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick192
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jack Nelson well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick224
Rnd7
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in pick 224 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
