RF4916 DRAFTING FOR THERavens

Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Ravens: B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Ravens spent slot 141 on DJ Campbell, a name most had 36 spots down the list. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, Spears-Jennings at that price is a win they earned. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In No. 7 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value.
Pick41
Rnd2
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad in pick No. 41 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick72
Rnd3
Antonio Williams
No drama and no debate, Antonio Williams went about where he belonged in the 72nd overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Jack Endries in the 107th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick141
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at pick 141 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick149
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
They talked themselves into Xavier Nwankpa at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick162
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Nice patience on Drew Allar, who had no business lasting to the 162nd overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. at pick No. 174 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick175
Rnd5
Earnest Greene III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Earnest Greene III. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings is a better player than slot 251 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
