Draft Grade — Browns

The Browns bled value on every deal, hence the D+. The tape said wait; the Browns did not. Carson Beck went at pick 43, a good 35 picks before the board was ready. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The veteran additions, Alexander Mattison chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In pick 6 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick32
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In pick No. 32 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Carson Beck
A wild overpay on Carson Beck in the Round 2 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
