Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB
Grand theft in pick No. 105: the Jaguars steal Moore and grade out a B.

The Jaguars did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Malachi Moore fell into slot 105.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Rice has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Denzel Burke
In pick No. 17 they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
Nice patience on Josh Conerly Jr., who had no business lasting to No. 48. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at Round 3, Pick 9 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick80 Rnd3 Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland slid further than he should have, and the 80th overall pick is lovely value for the tight end. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick105 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
You do not let a safety like Malachi Moore reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick112 Rnd4 Abdul Carter
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Abdul Carter. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick113 Rnd4 Lander Barton
Lander Barton in slot 113 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144 Rnd5 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in pick 144 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176 Rnd6 Zach Rice
They went early on Zach Rice in the Round 6 slot, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick177 Rnd6 Deion Burks
Deion Burks at slot 177 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208 Rnd7 Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez in pick No. 208 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
