Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureC
The Commanders bled value on every deal, hence the D-. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Commanders did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
If Elarms-Orr pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Monroe Freeling
They paid up for Monroe Freeling at slot 13 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick30
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 30th pick they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick93
Rnd3
Sam Hecht
They let Sam Hecht come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick145
Rnd5
Louis Moore
The board had cheaper options than Louis Moore at pick No. 145, and it noticed. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick154
Rnd5
Kaleb Elarms-Orr
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at pick 154 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick185
Rnd6
Ephesians Prysock
No edge and no loss on Ephesians Prysock in Round 6, Pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick253
Rnd7
Eli Heidenreich
Eli Heidenreich at No. 253 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick255
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on De'Zhaun Stribling. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
