Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Emmanwori from sliding. Grade: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Nick Emmanwori at the 50th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Hawes reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In slot 18 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in Round 2, Pick 18 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick52 Rnd2 Carson Schwesinger
They went early on Carson Schwesinger in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick82 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge slid further than he should have, and No. 82 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in pick 92 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick137 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
A quarterback of that caliber at the 137th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick172 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Kyle Williams at pick No. 172, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175 Rnd5 Upton Stout
A reach on Upton Stout in the 175th overall pick; the board had better options right there. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick223 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
They jumped the gun on Isaac TeSlaa, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
