Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Ward is the Giants' new face under center. Grade: B-.

Call it larceny. Jack Bech sat on the board until Round 4, Pick 33, and the Giants did not need to be asked twice. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. Every board in the league had Garcia lower, and that gap is the story.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In the 3rd pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in slot 34 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick65 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
Good price on Ashton Gillotte in pick No. 65, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jack Bech
You do not let a wide receiver like Jack Bech reach No. 134 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137 Rnd4 Cody Simon
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cody Simon. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick155 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
Circle this one: Tommi Hill at pick 155 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 34 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in the Round 6 slot, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick221 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
A slide stopped in the 221st pick, with Trey Zuhn III worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248 Rnd7 Gino Garcia
They left a pile of value on the table to take Gino Garcia this early at the 248th overall pick. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
