Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-

FutureB-
Ward is the Browns' new face under center. Grade: B. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Browns committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Grant. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. On the needs board they went 8 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get the arm they will build around. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
Josh Conerly Jr. at No. 39 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson at pick No. 67 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick94
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
A tight end of that caliber at the 94th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick103
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Darius Alexander worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at slot 104 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick112
Rnd4
Charles Grant
They robbed the room for Charles Grant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick113
Rnd4
Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at pick 113 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick150
Rnd5
LeQuint Allen
The board had LeQuint Allen higher than Round 5, Pick 12, and the running back fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick179
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Kiser at No. 179, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick224
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
R.J. Mickens is a better player than pick No. 224 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick253
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in LaJohntay Wester. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
