FutureB-
The Giants finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+. The Giants spent the pick that matters most on Cam Ward, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
If Diggs pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They banked enough surplus on Emmanwori to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in pick 52 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at the 65th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick81
Rnd3
Deone Walker
No drama and no debate, Deone Walker went about where he belonged in No. 81. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick92
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at Round 3, Pick 28 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the 99th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater at slot 105 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick153
Rnd5
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
They paid sticker price for Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick No. 153, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick154
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
By-the-book stuff, Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 154 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick189
Rnd6
Fadil Diggs
This one needs a full-page explanation: Fadil Diggs in the 189th overall pick, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick219
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
A straight-up fair deal on Carson Vinson at slot 219, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick223
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jalen Travis
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Travis this early at Round 7, Pick 30. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
