FutureB-
The Chiefs land in the muddy middle: C+. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chiefs took Jack Kelly a full 115 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In No. 26 they get a red-zone target to build around. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott at pick No. 40 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick60
Rnd2
Blake Miller
No drama and no debate, Blake Miller went about where he belonged in slot 60. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74
Rnd3
Derrick Moore
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Derrick Moore. It fills a real need, too.
Pick109
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
Value said wait; Chris McClellan in the 109th pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jack Kelly
They reached a country mile for Jack Kelly at the 146th overall pick, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick176
Rnd5
Eric McAlister
A reach on Eric McAlister in the 176th pick; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
