Christopherbigd DRAFTING FOR THEDolphins
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Dolphins a B. There is reaching, and then there is Garrett Dellinger at the Round 7 slot. The Dolphins jumped the board by 66 and dared it to prove them wrong.
That Ransom pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In pick No. 13 they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot.
Pick48
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon at slot 48 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick98
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba slipping to the 98th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick116
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 14: Cam Skattebo for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jared Wilson in pick 135, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick150
Rnd5
Kyle McCord
Steal is underselling it; Kyle McCord at No. 150 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick155
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
A safety of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 17 is the definition of value, full stop. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick224
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at the 224th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick231
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
A wild overpay on Garrett Dellinger in pick 231, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick253
Rnd7
Kobe Hudson
Kobe Hudson in pick No. 253 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
