Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB
The Bears answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: C+. The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Reaching for Barrett left real value on the table behind him. Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with edge rusher and cornerback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In slot 4 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
Rome Odunze in No. 9 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick26
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In pick 26 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Byron Murphy II
The board had cheaper options than Byron Murphy II at Round 2, Pick 3, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Value said wait; Sedrick Van Pran in the 66th overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75
Rnd3
Maason Smith
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE while edge rusher and cornerback keeps waiting.
Pick110
Rnd4
Will Shipley
This one needs a full-page explanation: Will Shipley in pick No. 110, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127
Rnd4
Isaiah Adams
They did well to land Isaiah Adams in the 127th pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
