A costly weekend of dealing drags the Jets to a D. The Jets put a flag in the ground for Patrick Payton, 50 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Altmyer at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
