Draft Grade — Vikings

Larceny in the 82nd pick lands the Vikings a B, Leavitt and all.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Sam Leavitt tumbling to the Vikings in the Round 3 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Lyons proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In No. 18 they get a three-down runner at fair value.
Pick50 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Steal is underselling it; Dillon Thieneman at Round 2, Pick 18 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82 Rnd3 Sam Leavitt
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Sam Leavitt in slot 82, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick97 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick131 Rnd4 Terry Moore
You do not let a safety like Terry Moore reach pick 131 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick157 Rnd5 DJ McKinney
Good price on DJ McKinney in the 157th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick173 Rnd5 Rasheem Biles
The board fumbled Rasheem Biles all the way to pick No. 173, and they scooped it up. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick196 Rnd6 J.Michael Sturdivant
J.Michael Sturdivant at the 196th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick208 Rnd6 Alex Birchmeier
By-the-book stuff, Alex Birchmeier at slot 208 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231 Rnd7 Jamari Lyons
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jamari Lyons well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
