The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith fell into pick No. 226. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

If Hassanein pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
