The Broncos went off-script early, and it cost them a F.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Broncos did exactly that with Vernon Broughton in slot 109. The board sounded every alarm, and the F is the fallout.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Giddens at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
