There is conviction, and then there is this. The Vikings took Eric Gentry a full 71 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. With quarterback and edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.
