FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Vikings and Golday: B+. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Vikings came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Golday at that price is a win they earned.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick49
Rnd2
Jonah Coleman
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jonah Coleman in pick 49. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick82
Rnd3
Chandler Rivers
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chandler Rivers. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jake Golday
They barely believed it either: Jake Golday still on the board at Round 3, Pick 33. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jaden Greathouse
Jaden Greathouse in slot 146 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
They paid sticker price for Jermaine Mathews Jr. in No. 161, and that is fine. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick176
Rnd5
Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson at the 176th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234
Rnd7
PJ Williams
They did well to land PJ Williams in the 234th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick240
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
No drama and no debate, Rueben Owens II went about where he belonged in No. 240. The roster fit checks out.
