Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Larceny in the Round 3 slot lands the Vikings a D+, Singleton Jr. and all.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Vikings did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting Campbell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Singleton Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In pick 24 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick46 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Nothing to complain about; Jake Slaughter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick56 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Nice patience on Sonny Styles, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 24. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick69 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in the 69th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick80 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
They barely believed it either: A.J. Haulcy still on the board at slot 80. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick88 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
A straight-up fair deal on Nicholas Singleton at the 88th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick97 Rnd3 Eric Singleton Jr.
Eric Singleton Jr. at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick161 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
The board had cheaper options than DJ Campbell at the 161st pick, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick163 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves at No. 163 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick199 Rnd6 Jalon Daniels
By-the-book stuff, Jalon Daniels at Round 6, Pick 18 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh in the 231st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick243 Rnd7 Ahmaad Moses
They liked Ahmaad Moses enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 243. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
