Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

FutureB
The Vikings kept it disciplined and banked a B-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Eric O'Neill in Round 4, Pick 23, a good 76 spots before the room expected him. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Wheatley to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a three-down runner. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Colton Hood
They jumped the gun on Colton Hood, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick73
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
A reach for Domonique Orange in the 73rd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick97
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in the 97th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick116
Rnd4
Jack Endries
They did well to land Jack Endries in pick 116, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick123
Rnd4
Eric O'Neill
A big swing on Eric O'Neill at pick No. 123, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
By-the-book stuff, Iapani Laloulu at pick No. 161 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick178
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
They went early on Xavier Nwankpa in pick 178, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick200
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
They talked themselves into Trey Zuhn III at Round 6, Pick 21, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick226
Rnd7
Amare Campbell
A premium they did not need to pay, Amare Campbell a notch or two before his time. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick241
Rnd7
Ricardo Hallman
Ricardo Hallman at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
