Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Vikings checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Vikings' one glaring miss is quarterback, a need they left exactly as they found it.
The Norfleet pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. However the rest shakes out, Slaughter at that price is a win they earned.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get an every-down engine for the run game at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter is a better player than slot 43 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Julian Neal in the 97th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick169
Rnd5
Aaron Anderson
No edge and no loss on Aaron Anderson in pick 169; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick185
Rnd6
Lander Barton
They paid sticker price for Lander Barton in pick No. 185, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick234
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at the 234th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick237
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
They talked themselves into Brett Norfleet at No. 237, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick248
Rnd7
Bear Alexander
The board had cheaper options than Bear Alexander at pick No. 248, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
