FutureA+
The phones sank the Vikings this weekend: D. Somebody took the Vikings to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
Limmer has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Wright pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick No. 18 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick32
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In pick 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in the 39th overall pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick42
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the 42nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jermaine Burton
No edge and no loss on Jermaine Burton in slot 46; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick64
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick76
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
They took Cooper Beebe at par in No. 76, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick95
Rnd3
Tyler Davis
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Davis at Round 3, Pick 32, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick109
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick111
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at pick 111 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick123
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
They talked themselves into Beaux Limmer at pick No. 123, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick146
Rnd5
Braelon Allen
They paid a round early for Braelon Allen in the 146th pick, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179
Rnd6
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright slid further than he should have, and No. 179 is lovely value for the running back. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick227
Rnd7
Brevyn Spann-Ford
They went early on Brevyn Spann-Ford in Round 7, Pick 7, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
