Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB+
The Lions worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Lions, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

The cost of the Rosemy-Jacksaint reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick60 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at pick No. 60 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
They did well to land Chris Braswell in the 61st pick, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick92 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
They paid up for Marshawn Kneeland at the 92nd overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
A real head-scratcher, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick163 Rnd5 Andru Phillips
A conviction pick on Andru Phillips at slot 163 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick247 Rnd7 Phil Jurkovec
Phil Jurkovec in Round 7, Pick 27 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick252 Rnd7 Zion Logue
Zion Logue at pick 252 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
