Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureC+
The Chiefs let Sadiq fall into their laps, and walked away with a D.

The Chiefs lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

It is not that Rivers is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Sadiq.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Keldric Faulk
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A real need, handled.
Pick19 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In slot 19 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Steal is underselling it; Kenyon Sadiq at pick 40 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick43 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
They did well to land Sonny Styles in pick No. 43, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick72 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
They read the board right and Darrell Jackson Jr. was the payoff at the 72nd overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick74 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
No drama and no debate, Keionte Scott went about where he belonged in No. 74. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick100 Rnd3 Chandler Rivers
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 36: Chandler Rivers adds a cornerback while quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick101 Rnd4 Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick108 Rnd4 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
No edge and no loss on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick 108; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick146 Rnd5 Niki Prongos
Nothing to complain about; Niki Prongos went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
