Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B
ValueB

TradesB+
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Patriots a B. There is reaching, and then there is Trey Holly at pick 225. The Patriots jumped the board by 33 and dared it to prove them wrong. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Getting Thieneman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Perkins Jr. pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick44
Rnd2
Joshua Josephs
No drama and no debate, Joshua Josephs went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 12. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick51
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 51 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick76
Rnd3
Gennings Dunker
A tidy bit of business in No. 76, where Gennings Dunker graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Harold Perkins Jr. while clear needs at interior defensive lineman sat open.
Pick112
Rnd4
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol slid further than he should have, and the 112th pick is lovely value for the tight end. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick129
Rnd4
Nic Anderson
They took Nic Anderson at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151
Rnd5
Taylen Green
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in the 151st overall pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick190
Rnd6
Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings at Round 6, Pick 14 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick218
Rnd7
Brandon Inniss
Brandon Inniss in pick 218 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick225
Rnd7
Trey Holly
A wild overpay on Trey Holly in slot 225, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
