Draft Grade — Texans

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Wilson: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Payton Wilson tumbling to the Texans in Round 3, Pick 23 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
They did well to land Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in Round 2, Pick 10, just ahead of his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick59
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
No drama and no debate, Braden Fiske went about where he belonged in the 59th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in No. 86 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick123
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick127
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at pick No. 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick188
Rnd6
Malik Mustapha
The board fumbled Malik Mustapha all the way to pick 188, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick247
Rnd7
KT Leveston
KT Leveston in the 247th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
