Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent No. 245 on Chris Miller, a name the board had a full 76 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In the 23rd overall pick they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick85 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson slid further than he should have, and No. 85 is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick124 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at pick 124 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at slot 128 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick161 Rnd5 Renardo Green
Renardo Green at Round 5, Pick 25 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick236 Rnd7 Hunter Nourzad
They reached into another round for Hunter Nourzad, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick245 Rnd7 Chris Miller
Chris Miller in the 245th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
