Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Jones: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Christian Jones tumbling to the Texans in slot 236 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Sinnott proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In slot 23 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59 Rnd2 Brandon Dorlus
They paid a round early for Brandon Dorlus in pick 59, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick85 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
The board had Johnny Wilson higher than pick No. 85, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick124 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kris Abrams-Draine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
A conviction pick on Ben Sinnott at the 128th pick that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick161 Rnd5 Renardo Green
Renardo Green slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick236 Rnd7 Christian Jones
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Christian Jones in the 236th overall pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245 Rnd7 Hunter Nourzad
Hunter Nourzad at Round 7, Pick 25 is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
