Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Texans spent No. 236 on Dylan McMahon, a name most had 26 spots down the list.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The Corley pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In slot 23 they get a disruptor off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 59 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick85 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
The board had Malachi Corley higher than the 85th pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick124 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
No drama and no debate, Kris Abrams-Draine went about where he belonged in pick No. 124. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
A reach on Ben Sinnott in pick 128; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161 Rnd5 Renardo Green
Renardo Green in the 161st overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick236 Rnd7 Dylan McMahon
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dylan McMahon well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick245 Rnd7 Zion Logue
Value said wait; Zion Logue in the 245th overall pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
