Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

There is a lot to like until you notice running back is still a hole. The Texans never got to the one that mattered most.

Reaching for Nourzad left real value on the table behind him. They banked enough surplus on Corley to cover a lot of smaller sins.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In the 23rd pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick59 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 59 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick85 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 22: Malachi Corley for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick124 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
They did well to land Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 124, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at slot 128 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick161 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
Value with a capital V on Theo Johnson in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick236 Rnd7 Hunter Nourzad
Hunter Nourzad at pick 236 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick245 Rnd7 David Ugwoegbu
David Ugwoegbu in the 245th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
