Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Texans walked out of the weekend still thin at running back, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.

They banked enough surplus on Sinnott to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will need Dorlus to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
Terrion Arnold at Round 1, Pick 23 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick59 Rnd2 Brandon Dorlus
They paid up for Brandon Dorlus at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick85 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Good price on Roman Wilson in the 85th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Value with a capital V on Leonard Taylor III in the 124th pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128 Rnd4 James Williams
They paid sticker price for James Williams in slot 128, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick161 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 161, where Ben Sinnott graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick236 Rnd7 Omar Speights
Omar Speights in pick 236 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jeremy Flax
They took Jeremy Flax at par in No. 245, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
