Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Texans.

Somebody in No. 28 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Arvell Reese, the No. 7 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They are betting Kitselman proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 28th pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
Pick38 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Olaivavega Ioane. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter is a better player than the 59th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
A slide stopped in pick 69, with Jadarian Price worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick106 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Caden Curry in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
A straight-up fair deal on DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 28, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165 Rnd5 Miles Kitselman
Miles Kitselman at No. 165 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick243 Rnd7 Haynes King
Nothing to complain about; Haynes King went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick244 Rnd7 Ja'Keem Jackson
They liked Ja'Keem Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 244. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
