Draft Grade — Texans

Grand theft in No. 155: the Texans steal Daniels and grade out a B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jalon Daniels at the 155th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. If Moore pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Harold Perkins Jr.
In slot 24 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Abdul Carter
They barely believed it either: Abdul Carter still on the board at Round 2, Pick 9. It fills a real need, too.
Pick56 Rnd2 Rod Moore
They went early on Rod Moore in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jordan Hancock
They read the board right and Jordan Hancock was the payoff at pick 88. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick120 Rnd4 Wyatt Milum
Good price on Wyatt Milum in the 120th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jalon Daniels
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Jalon Daniels in the 155th overall pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick216 Rnd7 Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at No. 216 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
