Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

FutureB-
The Texans let Weigman fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. Somebody in pick No. 155 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Conner Weigman, the No. 78 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If Grant pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Benjamin Morrison
In slot 24 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
A tidy little value on Landon Jackson in Round 2, Pick 9, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick56
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant at No. 56 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
You do not let a running back like Nicholas Singleton reach pick No. 88 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick120
Rnd4
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick155
Rnd5
Conner Weigman
Conner Weigman in the 155th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick216
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
They liked Oronde Gadsden II enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 216. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
