Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Gray: B.

Somebody in No. 155 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Joshua Gray, the No. 123 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In the 24th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Fair-plus on Walter Nolen, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick56 Rnd2 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa slid further than he should have, and slot 56 is lovely value for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jason Marshall Jr.
They paid sticker price for Jason Marshall Jr. in Round 3, Pick 24, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jay Higgins
They robbed the room for Jay Higgins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick155 Rnd5 Joshua Gray
They will replay Joshua Gray at pick 155 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick216 Rnd7 Preston Stone
They read the board right and Preston Stone was the payoff at pick No. 216. It fills a real need, too.
