Draft Grade — Texans

FutureB-
The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Williams: B-. The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Miyan Williams fell into Round 7, Pick 28. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They are betting Sinnott proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In the 23rd overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick59
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in Round 2, Pick 27, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick85
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
Fair-plus on Mike Sainristil, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick123
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
A straight-up fair deal on Sataoa Laumea at the 123rd pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick127
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
A reach on Ben Sinnott in pick 127; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: Jaylin Simpson for less than the market said. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick239
Rnd7
Isaiah Neyor
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Isaiah Neyor in pick No. 239, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248
Rnd7
Miyan Williams
The board fumbled Miyan Williams all the way to No. 248, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
