Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans robbed the room for Bond. Final grade: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Isaiah Bond at slot 88 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

They will need Burch to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Burke
In slot 24 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. More want than need.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
A quiet steal in the 41st overall pick: Tyleik Williams for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick56 Rnd2 Andrew Mukuba
They paid a round early for Andrew Mukuba in pick No. 56, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick88 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
They robbed the room for Isaiah Bond here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick120 Rnd4 Wyatt Milum
The board had Wyatt Milum higher than pick 120, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jordan Burch
A wild overpay on Jordan Burch in No. 155, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick216 Rnd7 Ben Bywater
Ben Bywater at the 216th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
