Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans won the night they stopped Burke from sliding. Grade: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Denzel Burke slide 20 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Collins has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Harold Perkins Jr.
They read the board right and Harold Perkins Jr. was the payoff at No. 24. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick41 Rnd2 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at the 41st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick56 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Conerly Jr.. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick88 Rnd3 Kaimon Rucker
Kaimon Rucker in Round 3, Pick 24 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick120 Rnd4 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 120 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick155 Rnd5 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in pick 155 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick216 Rnd7 Mason Taylor
They paid sticker price for Mason Taylor in the 216th pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
