Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Stutsman: B.

Call it larceny. Danny Stutsman sat on the board until the 155th overall pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In pick 24 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Kenneth Grant graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick56 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
Steal is underselling it; Landon Jackson at No. 56 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jacobee Bryant
They paid sticker price for Jacobee Bryant in the 88th pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick120 Rnd4 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at Round 4, Pick 24 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick155 Rnd5 Danny Stutsman
Somehow Danny Stutsman was still sitting there in pick No. 155, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh is a better player than slot 216 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
